About the Art

I was inspired to paint after seeing a TV show featuring Digital Photo-Realist Artist Bert Monroy.  Jen then arranged a surprise visit on my 2004 birthday.  It was really cool.  We have been friends ever since.  So far, the paintings have taken from 8 to 200 hours apiece to complete.  It keeps me busy and I really enjoy it.

First Page of Photo-Realism Gallery:

These “Digital Paintings “ were created on a computer.  The paintings contain no photos or scans.  Although I was virtually paralyzed from the neck down, I could still move my right shoulder a small amount.  If someone placed my hand on the mouse I could push it around enough to move the cursor on the screen.  I used special software that initiated a mouse click when the cursor dwelled in one spot for more than seven tenths of a second.  Using this and an on screen keyboard, I slowly produced the images.  It was a little awkward, but it worked.

Remaining paintings:

I have now completely lost the use of my arms.  These paintings were created using only my head.  By moving my head side to side and up and down I can move the cursor on the screen.  To click the mouse button, I activate a small switch next to my face by bulging my cheek "Bullfrog Style".
